Freeman cites storage savings from U.S. wheat sale to Russia
Agriculture Secretary Orville Freeman says selling wheat to the Soviet Union could save about 200 million dollars in storage costs. He cites possible Soviet purchases of 150 to 200 million bushels within a 250 million bushel department estimate, and argues the sale would aid farmers and reduce the balance of payments deficit. Freeman criticizes Nixon and dismisses Goldwater’s political linkage to troops in Cuba.
