Baby Girl Survives Run Over By Train
Eighteen month old Christine Ragen was struck by a 50 car freight train near Townsend Montana. The child tripped between the rails as the Otcar freight, traveling about 30 mph, crossed a nearby crossing. Five or six cars passed over her before the engineer stopped and freed her from beneath the wheels. The mother Mrs Charles Ragen called out warnings as the tragedy unfolded. Christine endured a minor forehead bump and remained alive and conscious.

Mrs Ida May Howsare 74 lifelong Washington county resident died at home in Crawfordsville after years of illness. Born February 22 1875 in Prairie Flower she was daughter of Samuel and Angeline Moore Page. Police believed two Anamosa reformatory escapees rode in a stolen car last night but fled on foot after a crash with a gravel truck and a parked vehicle. Five-and-twenty flee hotel blaze in Des Moines
In Des Moines the Como hotel fire forced 25 people to flee the second floor early today. Dennis Booth, 52, fractured a leg jumping to the street and was hospitalized at Broadlawns General. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly three hours, rescuing three occupants while others escaped.
