Large crowds witness civic parade in Washington with the fire department winning first prize for their old wagon and signs. J C Penney float placed second, Future Farmers of America third, Western Auto fourth, with multiple honorable mentions and extra $10 prizes from entry fees. Kids parade proceeds awarded. Veterns of Foreign Wars sponsored divisions with prizes for costume rhythm band and pets. Mrs. Margaret Ket fer Pfeiffer died Thursday at her daughter Rosemond Kedlinger’s home at the junction of highways 77 and 77. Funeral services are set for 9:30 a.m. Monday at St Mary’s church in Keota with burial in St Mary’s Cemetery. Marsh Funeral Home in charge. Father S Kempker to preside. Born June 4, 1868 she spent most of her life in Keota. married Jan 14, 1891. Survived by seven children including Mrs Mike Adams and Mrs William Shannon of Keota.

Arlington Daniels Dies After Illness at Washington County Hospital
Arlington Daniels died Thursday afternoon at Washington County Hospital after being taken there earlier. Funeral services are pending with Sherman’s funeral home handling arrangements. Born January 24, 1902, he lived his life in the area and served in World War II. He worked at odd jobs, ran a wallpaper cleaning business, and was known for athletics at Washington High School and the State University of Iowa. He is survived by his mother and three sisters.
