Fall is best time to spray lawn weeds, says extension director
Washington County Extension Director Jim Frier warns fall spraying is safer for ornamentals and vegetables and will curb dandelion and plantain seeds after a moisture rich summer. He prescribes amine 2 4 D at one tablespoon per gallon, applied with proper equipment, plus a detergent to improve penetration. Do not mow near spraying and complete the job by early November with fertilization to prevent new weed growth.
