Des Moines Oct 11 The October 1 forecast for Iowa corn production is raised to 422,653,000 bushels. Alfred C Brittain assistant federal agricultural statistician said in the monthly crop summary. Oats quality improved 3 percent from last year while spring wheat and barley quality are 8 percent of normal. Barley and potato forecasts unchanged and overall production remains below last year but above five year average.

A man described as 30 to 35, about six feet two, 190 pounds, neatly dressed, used forged checks totaling $38.40 at three Washington stores yesterday. Sheriff Charles M. Denison said the forger passed two checks for $12.80 each and one for $13.60, all made payable to A. C. Simpson and signed in the name of Charles E. Hanson. He worked between five and six o clock, then left town.
