Police in Des Moines arrested twenty people at a high end Banda-voo sight club on charges of having mixed drinks or bottles of liquor at their tables. Managers were among those detained as officers conducted a raid.
Norwalk man John Strable, 74, collapsed on Highway 28 while en route to Des Moines. He died after suffering a heart attack despite attempts to revive him. he had planned to spend the day with fries.
Emmett Bryant a Davenport part time railroad worker was arrested by Special Patrol Officer G E Snyder after Lena UL accused him of raising a check from 3 cents to 13 dollars and cashing it while Bryant was found riding the top of a freight car in Waterloo.
Waterloo bound student Waterloo Vincent Kelley wins individual sweepstakes in all breed collegiate cattle judging at the National Dairy Show in Columbus Ohio. Iowa State college team places second in team all breed judging while the Iowa 4 H club judging team takes fourth in junior dairy cattle judging.
Des Moines reports detail Chicago Rotarian Paul Harris, founder of Rotary clubs, conversing with A. Mor ris from Waterloo. Norris, a former University of Iowa student, toured the homecoming in Iowa City on Rotary business en route to Omaha and Nebraska City.
Newton resident Robert Stow, 16, elected president of the Iowa High School Press Association at a weekend Ames convention. Davenport youth Bill Asbury, 17, retires as former president. Eunice Blackburn of Newton serves as Stow’s faculty adviser.
A 15 month old girl named Barbara Pingman was catapulted from her mother's lap through a windshield in a Des Moines automobile crash. She gained a forehead bump. Her parents, Leland Dingman and spouse, suffered severe cuts from flying glass.
South Amana scene after a crash on Highway 6 when Will Kummer's wagon was struck by a car from Chicago driven by Francis Bennett. Gasoline spilled, lit by Kummer's cigarette, leaving him seriously burned while Bennett and passengers were uninjured. he was rushed to hospital.
Yale Joe Base, 58, a farmer near Yale, was injured by a shotgun blast to his right thigh while loading a bag of feed into his car in Bagley. The bag shifted tools and furniture, tripping the shotgun trigger.
Osage man Osage-Nels Haig, 63, was struck and killed as he attempted to cross the race track during a tin can derby event. A jalopy driven by Allen Rie of Rochester, Minnesota, struck him in front of several hundred spectators after repeated warnings to stay off the track. Gatekeeper Oscar Anderson had cautioned Haig not to cross.

Supreme Court rejects Mooney plea while Wayne Norman of Oregon township is re elected chairman of the Washington county agricultural conservation organization. A hay barn and corn crib on Ira Amlong’s farm were destroyed by fire Saturday night, starting around midnight. El Neiswanger 86 died today at 12 15 PM at his son Clayton Neiswanger home after a stroke and subsequent paralysis. Born December 10 1851 in Orville Ohio he had lived most of his life in Washington. Survives include son Clayton and daughters Jessie Patchin Borger Texas and Grace Hendrix Malin Oregon plus a granddaughter and several siblings. Funeral plans are at L A Jones funeral home pending word from distant relatives.
Grace Randel guided forty eight Washington high school girls to Mount Pleasant for a district vocational home making convention. Seven schools in the southeastern district attended the event featuring talks by Rheta Coats of Burlington, meetings, luncheon, a Mexican dance, and a pantomime. Seven mothers accompanied the group.

The U S Supreme Court denied Thomas J Mooney a writ of certiorari in a 6 to 2 decision ending a 20 year legal battle. Mooney now relies on a gubernatorial pardon from California Governor Frank Merriam after his conviction for involvement in the 1916 San Francisco preparedness bombing while serving a life term at San Quentin.
