School Reorganization Vote Set for Washington County
Qualified voters in 30 Washington County school districts will vote Thursday between noon and 7 p.m. on a proposed reorganization into a larger Mid Prairie district. If three fourths of districts approve, districts with majority support join the new district while others remain separate until they vote to join later. Future policies and bond issues will be decided by the single district’s voters.

Richmond Native Sister Mary Ella Dies in Wisconsin
Sister Mary esta formerly Dorothy Koening of Richmond died Friday at St Rose Convent LaCrosse Wisconsin after a three year illness from cancer. Funeral was held at 7:30 a m Monday with burial in the convent cemetery. Survivors include her mother Mrs William Koening of Richmond four sisters Sister Mary Ella Sister Emerrencia Agnes Koening and Mrs Orville Meyer and one brother Mark Koening. Father William Koening died in 1955. Members of the Koening and Meyer families attended.

A car left control on a hill in Keokuk crashed into a telephone pole killing Mrs. Dorothy Ayer instantly and Mrs. Mary Nell Kay who died later in hospital. Mrs. Ayer's husband Hurley was in fair condition at the hospital as police said the car caught fire but occupants were removed before flames.

Frank Fay Marsh 70 of 607 South Iowa Avenue died at 9 50 am today at home. Funeral at 9 30 am Thursday at St Marys Church Keota with burial in Kalona Cemetery. Rosary at Sherman Funeral Home Washington 7 30 pm Wednesday. Marsh married Mena Dunlap June 14 1924. He moved to Keota 1921 ran a furniture store and funeral home until 1955 Retirement then moved to Washington 1955. He was active in civic life, past president of the Keota Chamber of Commerce and on St Marys building committee. Survivors: wife, daughter, three grandsons, sister, aunt, three nephews and one niece.

Three Boys Arrested For Derailing Train Near Des Moines
Three rural youths under 12 years old were taken into custody after a derailment of a Chicago Great Western freight train near Des Moines on Saturday night. Five diesel units and two flat cars derailed when the train hit a partly open switch. no injuries occurred as the train was moving slowly. A hatchet and switch lock were found, and the switch lock had been broken with the chain fastening cut. Parents and train officials will meet with authorities to discuss possible action.
