Washington UPI report says President Lyndon B. Johnson had gall bladder removed at Bethesda Naval Hospital in a completely successful operation. Doctors also removed a kidney stone from the ureter. He rests in a third floor suite with Mrs. Johnson and Luci nearby. recovery expected 10 to 14 days.
Iowa State treasurer Paul Franzenburg spoke to Washington County Democrats after a dinner at the Country Club. He urged pride in Iowa, noting Sell Iowa trips and Governor Hughes reshaping attitudes, highlighting corn yields, a debt free economy, and strong youth education as core goals. Special guests included Rep. James Quinn and Beverly Spector.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dan M. Coblentz 87 of Kalona will be Monday October 11 at 1 p.m. at the Yoder Bontrager farm near Kalona with Mose W. Yoder and Levi Schrock officiating. Burial is in Esch Cemetery north of Sharon. She was born September 26, 1878 in Hubbard Oregon and married Dan Coblentz on January 2 1902 who preceded her in death. Surviving are five sons Abner Kalona Mose Ligener Ind Chris Lone Tree Danny West Liberty Amos Iowa City. a daughter Mrs. Sam H. Miller Kalona. a brother Dan Miller Plain City Ohio. two sisters Mrs. Annie Stutzman Topeka Ind and Mrs. Susie Coblentz Sheridan Ore. 31 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
Advance Ross Electronics president Henry C Buckingham announced a new addition to the Wash plant that will add 44,800 square feet and double current capacity. The project aims to free space at the Burlington plant for manufacturing and will require more employees. The Washington expansion extends the building 140 feet north and adds a break room and employee facilities. Heartland Productions says it will reveal within a week the Hollywood star for its first film The Hostage.
