Sadie E. Nichols formerly of Ainsworth died in Muscatine at age 57. She was born December 28, 1871 in Ainsworth, married Charles P. Nichols, and leaves two children Harold H. Nichols of Ainsworth and Vera B. Moran of West Liberty, plus a grandson Sharon Herbert Moran, two sisters and a brother. Funeral at Fairbanks home for funerals in Muscatine Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Benjamin F. Schwartz officiating. burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

Court of Honor Held by Washington Scout Troops
A council fired Court of Honor was held by Washington Boy Scouts Troops 32 and 83 around a camp fire west of the rifle range. Roger Wicher earned Scout status after Tenderfoot tests, and Sonny Glick received the Second Class Badge along with other merit badges. The meeting ended with plans for separate future troop meetings and songs led by Patrol Leader Carl Gevins.

City Council approves crushed rock surface on East Eleventh Street
At a city council meeting, a plan was approved to surface one block of East Eleventh Street between North Marion and North Iowa avenues at the north city limits. The surfacing will guide north town traffic between Marion and Iowa avenues. The city has graded two blocks on South Third Avenue south of East Madison Street, to be treated with crushed rock with costs borne by property owners.
