Warren Garst former Iowa governor died of heart disease at 74 after returning from Boone. He served as governor from 1908 to 1909 and earlier as lieutenant governor and state senator. He organized the state industrial commission and was its first commissioner. Survived by widow and three children, funeral plans not announced. Governor Kendall issued a proclamation expressing sorrow.
