Theodore Roosevelt condemns hearsay as evidence amid names of dead figures like Bliss Harriman and Archbolt. Theodore Roosevelt testifies before the Clapp committee denying any demand for campaign funds or favors in 1904. He says neither J. P. Prince Ludivico Pigna telli d Aragon, a Spanish noble and son of a claimant to the throne, is detained at Ellis Island after immigration officials refuse landing. He had visited previously with a large retinue and courted Miss Mary Duke. The prince protests and vows to appeal to Washington through the Spanish consul and banker Jules Bache.
Mexico City report says the chamber of deputies authorized the president to float a 20 000 000 peso war loan amid disorderful debate. The senate is expected to approve. Critics denounced the government's failure to suppress the revolution during the lengthy session.

Ezra C. Bartlett a retired Arizona mine owner who died in the New York Athletic Club gym August 29 left a will with a clause warning his executor against dealing with lawyers. The will disposes of a $50 000 estate and has been filed for probate in New York.
Indianapolis Oct 5 United States District Attorney Charles W Miller charged that President Frank M Ryan in 1908 advised J J McNamara and later told the Iron Workers International to publish only receipts and not disbursements during the strike with the American Bridge Company The DA said Ryan approved printing only a portion of the financial statement and that McNamara sent out an official notice signed by Ryan and the executive board to 100 local unions despite constitutional prohibitions
District Attorney Miller has spent over a day detailing twenty of the fifty five counts in the dynamite indictments. The opening statement will extend into the fourth day as the lengthy and careful exposition continues.
