Pleasant Hill Christian church will celebrate its 39th annual homecoming on Sunday October 13. The program will feature music by Deacon Dan and Noreen of Waterloo. Details of the celebration plans will be announced next week. The church lies about 50 miles southeast of Washington.
District Court Judge Ira F. Morrison dismissed charges against Earl Riggan after he changed his plea from guilty to not guilty. The Iowa Commerce Commission had accused Riggan of running a grain dealer business without a license. Dean Lintz of Washington pleaded not guilty to marijuana possession with no trial date set.
Two alleged Washington arsonists, Harry H. Knott and Clark L. Wagner, pleaded not guilty at arraignment before District Court Judge Ira F. Morrison. They waived speedy trial rights on charges linked to a series of fires Aug 30 and 31 damaging vacant farm homes, farm buildings, and park shelters. No trial date was set.
