NFO Urges Farmers to Store Soybeans and Corn in Washington
Washington County farmers are urged by NFO officials to hold this year’s soybeans and corn. Chairman Lyle Gerot notes USDA forecasts a small 1960 soybean crop and weak demand while NFO targets stored prices of 56 cents a bushel for soybeans and 149 cents for corn. Workman Gets Award Faces Gambling Charge
DES MOINES UPI Joseph A Mazzie 53 a traffic sign maintenance man was fired for gambling and pleaded innocent in Polk County District Court to illegal possession of gambling devices. He also won a 2400 workmen’s compensation award from the city for a back injury. The city council ordered restitution including interest and medical benefits. The 5 0 vote followed his innocence plea and release on 500 bond. He remains free on 100 bond pending appeal from a municipal court disorderly house conviction involving gambling.
