Brookhart Help Much Appreciated Campaign Shift

New York Oct 2 an eleventh hour switch of campaign plans by Senator La Follette would concentrate his presidential bid in the New England states New York New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Gilbert Roe eastern manager for the independent ticket said the conference in Washington would discuss the move. Roe said Brookhart revolt has improved our position in the west and midwest and La Follette should focus on the east.

Glen Edward Gonger aged 27 died last night at 1 30 at his parents home after an eight month illness influenza developed into pneumonia and tuberculosis Funeral services will be held Saturday with a 1 00 service at the Gonger home then travel to Richland for 2 30 Friends church rites conducted by Rev W B Shelley He was born December 11 1896 in Bridgewater Iowa married Edith Doran August 2 1916 and leaves two children Marie and Alice He is survived by his parents two sisters Carrie Mourer and Mirthel Bjork and was connected with the Washington Church of Christ since two years ago Also Supt W C Harding and two principals attended a conference in Iowa City yesterday.

Brookhart to Speak for La Follette at Iowa City

United States Senator Smith W. Brookhart will address an Iowa City audience Monday evening October 6 in the auditorium of a University of Iowa building under the Iowa La Follette Wheeler group. The event, promoted by George Francois of Maquoketa, will precede the formation of La Follette Wheeler clubs at the university and in Johnson county. University officials had previously restricted political addresses on campus.

Dawes Set to Speak in Mason City October 7

Republican nominee for vice president Charles G. Dawes will address a rally at the Mason City armory October 7. Organizers expect 10 000 to 15 000 attendees with three amplifiers and street closures. Dawes arrives from Duluth after a stop at Northwood and will then head to Fort Dodge, Storm Lake, LeMars, and Stony City.
