West German police using clubs and water cannons dispersed Communist demonstrations across the country. In Frankfurt more than 100 Reds were subdued in a three hour clash with over 130 arrests overall. Some leaders face resistance charges with potential five year terms.
Washington's Junior Chamber of Commerce members plan a special meeting at 4 PM in the office of John Patterson & Son seed coin dealers. Don McClure, president of the Jaycees, urged all members to attend.
A reception will honor the new Church of the Nazarene pastor Rev. and Mrs. F. A. Hahn at the parsonage 426 East Madison Tuesday October 3 from 7 30 to 9 30 oclock. All church members neighbors ministers and friends are invited to attend.

Bert V. Canston paid a $10 fine and costs for speeding. Duane T. Redlinger was fined $2 plus costs for running a stop sign.
Francis Hiller of Washington was fined $14 and costs Saturday afternoon by Justice H. M. Putnatin. Hiller was arrested on charges of assault and battery.

Kalona resident Malinda Yoder 94 died at her home Sunday after a lingering illness. Funeral set for Tuesday at East Union Mennonite church with Rev. Dan Fisher officiating. Burial in East Union cemetery. She was born Aug 15, 1856 in Logan County Ohio, married to Jacob B. Yoder in 1876, lived in Indiana nine years, moved to Kalona in 1886. Survived by five daughters, three sons, 35 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

In Claremont New Hampshire Fire Chief Esmond Dansereau ruled that fathers will be held responsible for sons who ring false alarms. The decision sets a precedent that fathers must pay court costs and penalties tied to their children's false fire alarm offenses.
