Death in the Buzz Saw at Haynes Mill Port Huron

Benjamin Ford, 40, was killed instantly at the Haynes planing mill when a board slipped from the assistant and struck him on the side of the neck over the pneumogastric nerve. Ford resided on Tenth Avenue and leaves a widow and three children.

Married by the roadside in Illinois

James Newton and Mary Roberts of Spring Valley wed four miles west of LaSalle at night after arriving from home and seeking a license from Bureau County. Minister A Lincoln Shute agreed to unite them but urged postponement. They proceeded across the county line to a roadside ceremony.

Asphaltum beds advance in Logansport field discovery

Beloit College Plans First Authorized Cane Rush

Beloit Wisconsin October 2 The first authorized cane rush between Beloit College freshmen and sophomores will occur Saturday October 14 after the senior junior football game. Rules by the board of control designate the athletic board to supervise with the president as referee and the vice president as umpire. The freshmen start in the middle with ten yard head start and aim to push the cane across the rival goal within twenty minutes. the team holding the cane in its territory at the end loses.
