Des Moines reports more than half of the 19 banks closed in Kossuth and Palo Alto counties last week have reopened. Governor Hammill urged citizens to maintain faith in Iowa’s institutions, noting closures stemmed from unwarranted withdrawals and rumors, and praised the state's resources and confidence.
Senator Brookhart of Iowa will speak on farming conditions before about 1000 at the Cook County Real Estate Board banquet in the Palmer House Thursday night. Otis Wingo will discuss Anti Branch Banking. a committee will meet Brookhart on Thursday morning at the event venue.
Lieut William G Eldridge of Washington Ia spends a fifteen day detail on active duty with Troop G Fourteenth cavalry at Fort Des Moines He serves in the officers reserve as a first sergeant in the One Hundred Thirteenth cavalry Iowa National Guard and now undertakes a period of regular army duty He is a Kemper Military academy and Camp Custer RoTC graduate in 1920.

Ontario voters face a dry vs. liquor sale control battle in the general election. Premier G Howard Ferguson the Conservative seeks re election on a platform to end liquor sales by prescription and create a government liquor commission. Liberals oppose him.
Iowan state college of Ames and individual Iowa exhibitors swept prizes at the International Livestock Show in Chicago. The group won best overall with 192 Grand champion yearling wethers, First prizes for Aberdeen Angus steers and fat Jersey, plus top placements in Hampshires Tamworths and Percheron stallions. Local winners included T A Huddleston Webster City reserve Shire stallion, Boro Flag second Tamworth Barrow over 200 pounds, Charles Summers Malvern champion Tamworth Barrow over 200 pounds, G R Cooley Nevada fat steer runner up, and J O Singmaster Keota junior first on aged Percheron stallions.
The YWCA solicitors for four wards were announced at a women’s room meeting. Each ward chose a captain and a group of solicitors, with lists including Miss Nellie Tripp, Mrs. Clara Darbyshire, and Mrs. George Brinton, among others. The drive aims to boost subscriptions as Washington supports a thriving YWCA and notes that the building is open to women and girls on Tuesdays and Fridays. A card change lets subscribers receive receipts in the membership book, with a strong motto guiding participation.

Chesley says he holds the stock and has received about 15000 in dividends. the estate executors Elizabeth Kiefer and Anton resist. The case sits before Judge Charles A Dewey with a jury, as attorneys for both sides present.

Mrs Juda Warren, mother of Mrs E D Morrison of Washington Iowa, died at her daughter Mrs R P Weesner’s home in Red Cloud Nebraska. She had been ill for some time and was active in church and community work. Survived by daughter Emmeline Morrison of Washington Iowa, daughter Mrs Weesner, and sons Joe of Madras Oregon and Carl stationed at Honolulu, and by her mother A B Pierce of Red Cloud.
Twenty five girls and women and twenty men and boys will take part in the water carnival at the YMCA pool this evening. The show starts at 7 45 with admission at ten and fifteen cents. Proceeds fund new pool equipment under E. W. Detrick, swimming instructor.
State Agent Ray Scott, brought in to investigate the Hartnell shooting in Dutch Creek township a month ago, has returned to Des Moines. Sheriff’s office reports no new developments and no determination of who fired the shot. Scott will return if warranted by new information.
Eleven month old Eilen Mare Volger died last night at the county hospital. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs William Y Volger of the Coppock community. The item notes a separate line about the Prince of Wales speaking French and a canal project in Southern France.
Henry Blattner died suddenly at his son George Blattner’s farm near Keota on November 22 1926 aged 74 years 7 months and 28 days He was born in Dutch Creek township March 29 1852 and was active in St Pauls Evangelical church He leaves son George Blattner daughter Dora Brinning two grandchildren and siblings in Wellington Kansas Funeral services were held at Valley St Pauls church with interment in Oak Ridge cemetery Community note describes Ladies Aid meetings Thanksgiving gatherings and local visits by relatives and neighbors
