U S builds new jet fleet to deliver H bombs and refuelers

Mrs Beardsleys Side Paralyzed After Des Moines Crash
Mrs Charlotte Beardsley 53 is paralyzed on her left side from injuries in the Des Moines traffic accident that killed her husband Gov William S Beardsley. Dr Henry G Decker said paralysis developed slowly from a head bruise and may not be permanent. The couple had returned from Ames to visit their son Dan when the Nov 21 crash occurred. Mrs Beardsley has bruises and a broken foot and only immediate family may visit at Lutheran Hospital.

Prominent Riverside Man Dies During Hunting Trip
Riverside business leader Paul C. Schmidt 48 died suddenly Saturday afternoon on a hunting trip after a heart attack. He led Piper Grain and Milling for 20 years, once headed Riverside firemen, and belonged to the Lions club and an Iowa City Lutheran church. He was born September 7, 1906 near Reinbeck and survived by wife Hazel Nielsen and three children Richard Ronald and Diane. Funeral is set for 2:30 p m Tuesday at St Josephs Lutheran in Reinbeck.
