Patience urged on Iowa income tax refunds
DES MOINES Iowa collector of internal revenue H L Birmingham said Monday that refunds for federal income tax payments are being checked and processing adjustments in New York prevent locating any taxpayer’s return at present. He noted 5,726,989.53 in refunds have been paid to 175,135 Iowans for 1943 taxes and 470,555.67 has been credited against 1944 taxes for 7,926 overpayments.

Seven hundred bags of milkweed pods weighing about five pounds each were loaded on Wolfe trucks and sent to Davenport for transport to Petosky Michigan for war goods. Pawlagist of Grant school collected 126 bags, the county’s top total, aiding Grant school to lead county schools in the drive.
