Firework R frazzle at Sam Doran home on South Second

Firefighters battled a kitchen blaze at the Sam Doran residence on South Second Avenue last night. No one was home, and the cause remained undetermined after an 11 30 p m alarm with the kitchen wing nearly destroyed while the rest of the house was saved.

Reverend Mountford Outlines Reasons For Thanksgiving

Rev Leslie Mountford of the Second United Presbyterian church delivered the annual Thanksgiving sermon at the Presbyterian church praising God’s goodness amid unrest. He cited defeat of the liquor traffic missionary work and church unity as reasons for thanks, with a $372.64 offering for Armenian relief and a large musical program by a 40-voice choir.

WAPELLO Iowa November 28 the tuberculosis and children's clinic arranged by Louisa County Medical Society at Wapello December 11 and 12 will offer free examinations. Dr Albert H Pyfield University of Iowa pediatrician will lead the children's section with Miss Myrtle Jamison county superintendent assisting and Dr Kepford supervising the TB program. Rural schools visits and nurse observations will follow. Residents far from town urged to come December 12 while nearby residents attend December 11.
