Iowa City’s annual water carnival named Maquoketa’s Mary Jane Shelden of Delta Delta Delta as Dolphin Queen. Shelden was one of five co-eds selected by film star Robert Taylor at the event in Iowa City.
Sabuia Dan Driscoll a local farmer spotted a fox in his cornfield near Audubon. He hurled a heavy ear of corn and clipped the fox behind the ear, killing it. Carlson the national cornhusking champion was the man Driscoll asked about.
The Delphos The Jocal Parent Teacher association marked the liquidation of all local school bonds making the district debt free. George W. Wetfrit, former president of the first school board, spoke at the celebration.
Adel sheriff Clint Knee jailed Emmet Patterson 50 after a quarrel over farm inheritance. Emmet admits shooting his brother Alva 44, who lies in Mercy hospital Des Moines. both men live with their widowed mother on a nearby farm. Authorities await developments before filing charges.
