Youth Arrested in Hartford Carlisle Bank Robbery
FBI agents arrested 19 year old Joe Doyle Banning of Fort Des Moines in the Hartford Carlisle bank robbery last Saturday. The other suspect Jay Earl Willis, 17, is in Polk county jail. the robbery netted more than 4500 dollars and a bank employee was shot in the arm.

A party of Washington men attended funeral services yesterday at Pilot Mound for Carl Bard who died Saturday at St. Paul. Bard in the insurance business lived in St. Paul and was unmarried. Attendants included C J Jungbluth L A Jones George McDaniel and Ralph Shannon. Dick Curran and Walter Bollinger of St. Paul accompanied the remains and returned with the group to St. Paul.

Mrs. Tom Grant aged 64 died at University hospital Iowa City after a major jaw tumor operation. She was born May 5 1882 at Oneida Indiana and married Tom Grant March 19 1900 in Galesburg. Surviving are husband two sons and multiple daughters, 15 grandchildren and a great grandchild, plus several siblings. Funeral plans pending relatives' word.

Fred Huff, 89, died at 4 45 this morning at his Columbus City home. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 PM at the Columbus City Methodist church, with Rev J B Pooley officiating. C A Stephens funeral home in charge. Huff was born November 8 1847 in Lancaster County Pennsylvania to Lyman and Anna Hipple Huff. He moved to Iowa in 1871 with his family settling on a farm near Columbus Junction.

Farmer Suffers Finger Amputations in Corn Picker Accident
Howard Been, a farmer living southeast of town, suffered the amputation of the first finger and part of the second on his left hand when his hand was caught in a corn picker at the farm of neighbor Pat Swift. The third finger was fractured and dislocated. the hand was lacerated and torn. He was taken to the county hospital.
