Two explosions hit the Spanish consulate and the Sons of Italy bank in downtown Philadelphia causing widespread damage and injuries but no fatalities. Emelio de Motta found and moved a bomb before it exploded. Authorities link the incidents to the Italian consulate blast.
Ad journment until Monday halted cross examination of Mrs. Elsi Browning Ballantyne the defense witness who described marital troubles threats by her husband and events leading to the fatal shooting of Benjamin F Ballantyne during the trial of her brother John Browning Jr and cousin Martimer A Browning in Salt Lake City.
A stowaway allegedly caused the explosion on the British steamer Otterburn shortly after leaving Marseille for New York. Tugs towed the blazing vessel to the roadstead where it burned to the water’s edge. The captain and four crew members are confirmed dead and more may be missing.

Hendrickson, claiming former Governor Jack Walton’s secret service link, went berserk and fired at officials before tear bombs forced him to surrender through a window. He was taken to a hospital after a struggle.
Father Tondorf sesmetrologist at Georgetown University predicted a catastrophic earthquake in Central or South America during an address last night. His observatory first reported the disturbances that later caused destruction in Japan, and he declined to estimate the quake time.
An attempted jail escape in Polk County jail failed when a deputy sheriff arrived as two men tried to pass a note through a cell window to prisoners. The fugitives escaped but the plan was interrupted, and one identified target was Robert Burris, accused murderer.
