Hill 875 Battle Ends Thanksgiving Day Charge

UPI reports U S troops seized the Hill 875 fortress in the central highlands after a one hour assault. About 1,400 North Vietnamese killed in the highlands fight. U S losses number in the hundreds with 14,846 Americans killed since 1961. Col James Johnson and Capt Ron Leonard led the assault, earning turkey dinners beneath the heights despite ongoing shelling. The siege marked the campaign centerpiece as 300 foes defended the bunkers before surrender.

Heroic boy survives hit and run in Thanksgiving hope

Norman George, 13, is alive after a hit and run crash in Wichita on November 14. He shielded friend Leota Matlock from danger, was pinned against a tree, and remains in St Francis Hospital in critical but improving condition. His parents say he may be months in hospital but spirits are high as they give thanks.

March on Pentagon directed by Reds

House Republican Leader Gerald R. Ford says President Johnson has a secret report showing Communists organized the October 21 22 antiwar Pentagon protest. Ford reported Johnson read the document to Republicans at the White House after the march, with hundreds arrested at the Defense Department HQ. White House declined to comment.

Weekly Vietnam casualties rise with Dak To fighting

UPI reports American combat deaths for the week ending last Saturday reached 225, up 48 from the prior week, the highest in two months. Communist deaths fell to 1,287, Americans wounded totaled 1,256, and South Vietnamese civilian deaths reached 75 amid Viet Cong raids. The war toll now stands at 14,846 Americans killed and about 93,227 wounded.

Brazilian exchange student finds friendly welcome in Morrisons
