Haverhill Massachusetts Catherine Yuele aged 26 was fined 25 after admitting she filed a false alarm to see if her fireman boyfriend was on duty. She said the date failed and she wanted to know if he was working.
United Nations envoy Arthur H. Dean said North Korea and its allies seek to dragoon the Korea conference toward Soviet control. He highlighted the plan to invite Russia and four neutrals as non voting observers and pressed for specific roles while condemning delays ahead of a UN General Assembly debate.
In the contract bridge marathon sponsored by the U's Men's club of Washington, twelve couples remain undefeated after the third round, with thirteen others having a single loss. The close third round prize went to Mr and Mrs Ben Bruns by 70 points, while Mr and Mrs Robert Kendrick were second by 90 points. Several pairs continue flawless play including Ted Bailey and A F E Baldrige among others.
FBI agents and local officers recovered nearly all of the $18 518 taken in the Curtiss Wisconsin bank robbery. Only $256 remains missing after money found in an abandoned farm house between Owen and Curtiss in Clark County.
A wintry spell moves across Iowa with clouds and light snow in parts of the state. Tonight western areas drop to 15 to 22 degrees and eastern to 20 to 25 as northwest winds howl. In Chicago a 33 year old deaf mute housewife, Mrs. Marcella Conopeotis, was found stabbed 17 times behind her South Side home. Her brother Albert Grebas, 18, confessed to the killing after arrest in Rockford, Illinois.

Buyers from twelve states paid nearly 200000 for 313 head of registered Hereford cattle at Letts and Turkington farm near Letts. A. D. Griffith paid 26000 for one quarter interest in Zato's Aristocrat bull. Columbia Stock Farms paid 4200 for a top bull. The average price was 610.40, and Sam Marting supervised the 14 hour sale. The herd was built by Clyde Turkington, who died this summer.
Four Ottumwa locations were raided by state county and city officers Friday night. Liquor and four pinball machines were seized at two sites, a bartender at the High Hat was arrested and released on bond, and drugs or items not seized at two other locations. Authorities said a large batch of liquor was taken at the Sylvania Club. The raids involved four state agents, a deputy sheriff, and two Ottumwa officers.
A B29 bomber attempting an emergency landing at Biggs Air Force Base in El Paso crashed, killing four crew members and injuring five. One engine failed on the target-towing mission, the pilot tried to regain altitude but power surged, veering the craft left and crashing into parked aircraft before breaking in two.

Loot of $18 000 recovered from Heirman’s Centralia apartment. Arraigned in East St. Louis bond set at 50000. Hearing postponed to Tuesday.
A massive manhunt by American military and Japanese police is underway after the nine year old daughter of Col. Jacquard H. Rothschild was found dying in a drainage ditch in Tokyo. She died minutes later, clothing torn and disarrayed.
A marriage license was issued at the county clerk's office on Friday to Kenneth R. Wilson and Eileen Elliott, both residents of Jefferson county.

In Bloomfield the state rested its rebuttal in the Walter M. Mayer murder trial after countering deputy claims Wisdom threatened Mayer. Mayer 56 a Santa Fe rancher pleads self defense in a dispute over a sheep debt on Wisdom’s 900 acre farm. Jurors may hear verdicts Tuesday as witnesses identify checks Wisdom wrote in March.

Women of the Holy Trinity church in Richmond will host their annual Thanksgiving dinner at the parish hall starting at 11 a.m. A dance that evening will climax the event.
In Washington Reed and Curtis, both key Ways and Means and Social Security subcommittee leaders, refused to delay the social security tax boost. They backed the planned one half of one percent increase for payrolls up to 3600, resisting the president's postponement push.
Margaret Huston 78 a longtime Columbus Junction resident died at 7 a m today at Mercy Hospital Iowa City after a period of illness. She taught in Iowa and headed Yankton College practice teaching department before opening a vacation play school in 1935. Survived by sister Kate Robertson Junction and brother Huston Mt Pleasant.
