Budapest dispatch notes rising concern over a possible putsch to restore the Habsburgs as Archduke Otto reaches 18. Hoarding orders at borders and police stops involving Empress Zita and Otto are cited while legiti mists seek to void 1921 dethronement law.
A district meeting of optometrists was held here last evening with a banquet at the Congress hotel and a business session. Twenty one attended, with representatives from Muscatine Brighton Richland Davenport Wellman Mount Pleasant Port Madison and Keokuk. The next meeting will be in Mount Pleasant on January 1.
Des Moines reports forecast from federal weatherman Charles J. Reed predicting much colder weather with rain and snow spreading through the state. He notes temperatures near 19 degrees above normal have fallen, with a winter snap expected in the western areas tonight moving toward Davenport Dubuque and Keokuk. City of Sioux City saw a drop to 36 in the latest reading.

After a featured stint by Harland Mead George Freshwaters assisted and Richard McCleery spoke as international vice president of Y's Men's clubs.

Announcement of funeral services for Mrs. L. H. Richardson, to be conducted by Rev. A. A. Vinz at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Baptist church. Burial at Ainsworth cemetery. Born July 1 1871 in Town township, she died yesterday in University Hospital Iowa City after a long illness. Survived by four children, including Lily and Clifford dead. husband L. H. Richardson.
Oklahoma City reports the Bethany cyclone caused 10 known deaths and 84 injured. The storm flattened over 60 homes, left 600 homeless, damaged property estimated at 350000, and prompted the Oklahoma National Guard to dispatch three companies.
In Des Moines on November 19 Dr Hjamer H G Schacht a German reparations expert urged loans to backward nations to educate their citizens and raise living standards. He argued higher living standards would boost demand for exports, enable debt repayment, and cited China as an example. He favored a bank for international settlement to expand world trade and declined to discuss Hitler or Russia in detail.
