Girl Sentenced for Theft in White Plains Case

Miss Helen Louise Watson, a nurse with alleged Chicago connections, was sentenced to the Bedford reformatory after pleading guilty to stealing $1500 worth of jewels and dresses from the home of the late Mrs. Mary Gregory Porter Devereux. William Lorimer the former US Senator, recovering after appendicitis surgery at Presbyterian Hospital, was reported resting comfortably.

Allen men to die Friday in Hillsville case

The Virginia Court of Appeals refused a new trial for Floyd Allen and his son Claude sentenced to death for the Hillsville Massie court tragedy. An appeal to Governor Mann for commutation is planned, with a quick decision expected within twelve hours after filing. Judge Keith affirmed the lower court, finding no error or prejudice.

Bomb Pieces Identified in Los Angeles Bomb Case

Blackened pieces of infernal machines tied to the 1910 Times building explosion were identified at the dynamite conspiracy trial in Indianapolis. A head on crash on the bridge between Yuba City and Marysville sent the car plummeting into the river 30 feet below. Eighteen passersby were injured and several are reported fatally hurt.

United States Officers Arrest Mew True Bills In Cincinnati Swindle

Federal officials moved to arrest five indicted men in a large scale stool and bond swindle linked to promotions of stock and bonds in open markets. The scheme allegedly operated internationally, with offices raided in Rochester and Cleveland and a suspect list including F. D. Minyard and George Hannaford. Clara Kronage testified as a Cincinnati stenographer amid the investigation. Hannaford was later arrested in Chicago with a $2,000 bond set for trial.
