Warrants Issued for Arrests of Mine Union Leaders
In Centerville Indiana on November 18 warrants were issued for fourteen officials of the United Mine Workers of America and several miners, including some women, charged with contempt of court. Judge W M Walker ordered serving by Sheriff Earl Gaugenbaugh, in relation to violations of an injunction against interfering with the 1917 wage scale. J H Morris, district 13 president, and four other officials were previously found guilty of contempt and sentenced to one day in jail plus a $50 fine.
