Boston report says Federal Judge George C. Sweeney granted Henry G. Ryan a one day postponement before starting a one month sentence after his conviction. The delay followed a request by Ryan’s lawyer who said Ryan had promised to drive him home.

Robert E. Dowell, 80, longtime Richland resident, died at 1 40 pm Tuesday in a Sigourney nursing home after seven years of poor health. Funeral services are pending with his body at a Fremont funeral home. Born Louisville May 23, 1875, he married Nellie Mick on December 26, 1912, who survives him.

Forty members of the Washington Y-Teens club collected 290 items including canned goods oranges jelly and foodstuffs during a Tuesday scavenger hunt.
