Winnebago reports near break-even quarter in Aug sales

Illegal deer case tests Iowa law on penalties
Gary E. Phillips of Brighton pleaded guilty in magistrate court Thursday to illegal possession of a deer under the July effective Iowa statute and was fined 100 dollars plus a 300 dollar civil judgment to reimburse the state for the value of illegal game. He also pleaded guilty to carrying a loaded gun in a vehicle and drew a 25 dollar fine. Officers Rex Emerson and Steve Messinger arrested him. The law requires payment to the state for the value of taken game, set at 300 dollars for each deer and 100 dollars for each wild turkey, with similar damages for other game or pelts.
