Night of Terror Ends In Farmhouse Tragedy
An unidentified transient held six people at a farm near Luzerne Iowa overnight. Arthur Knoka 82 was killed when a gunman shot him in the heart. Mrs. John Liddle 30 and her father 70 were wounded. the gunman killed himself after his hour of terror. The victims were treated at a Cedar Rapids hospital and the suspect's body returned to Vinton.

Seek $1000 In Seal Sale
One thousand dollars has been set as the goal for the 1940 county Christmas Seal sale by members of the Washington county committees. The goal is the minimum needed to carry on the county's 1941 program of education, prevention, and case finding. The campaign will emphasize early discovery of cases and rely on educational work including an April early diagnosis campaign to promote use of modern diagnostic methods for early, curable tuberculosis. The scope of work to be funded will be determined after January 1.

Waterloo services set for John Kearney a 35 year old Waterloo man mortally injured when his car hit an Illinois Central switch engine at Mullan avenue crossing. He died en route to a hospital. F W Parrish and Mrs Agnes Anderson were injured in a similar crash at the same crossing the night before.

Walkout at Plane Plant in Downey Halts Production
Downey California November 15 1500 workers from the Vultee Aircraft plant walked out over wage demands. More Livestock to Be Fed in Iowa Records Nebraska Des Moines
A US Department of Agriculture report shows Iowa will feed a record amount of livestock this winter with over 1.5 million cattle and sheep shipped in the last four months. Feeder and stocker cattle totaled 769,766 head, up 24 percent from last year, while feeder sheep and lambs reaching 826,315 during July to October, up 26 percent from 1939.
