Mary Harding Dies Funeral Saturday
Mary Harding sr of 303 West Third street died Thursday afternoon at Pines Rest Home after a heart attack. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday November 15 at Sherman’s funeral home with Dr C R Reed presiding. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. Mary Harding taught school in rural districts then at Gem City Business College and Heneger Business College before shifts in Chicago offices. She was a Columbia College graduate and Moody Bible Institute Bible student. She survived by two nephews and three nieces, last of her family. Zora Rhodes remains employed as a physical therapist at St. Joseph’s hospital in Minot North Dakota.

Father Accused Of Scalding Daughter In Ottumwa
Donald M. Moos, 20, was charged with assault to do great bodily harm after his year-old daughter Kathy Jane suffered third degree burns during a bath in Ottumwa. Police say Moos admitted the burns occurred during the bath and cited an argument with his wife as motive. Kathy Jane was hospitalized at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City in serious condition.

Five Killed As Tanker Rams Navy Transport
A tanker rammed a Navy transport off Cape Henry Virginia causing at least five soldier deaths and injuring more than 29 crew and Army troops. Public Employees Retirement Plan Under Consideration
