Alvin Lester Fry of Brighton, a lineman for Iowa Southern Utilities, suffered a fractured hip and pelvis and head injuries when his car was struck while he inspected a fuse box beside the highway. Charles E. Coffin, driving west toward Pleasant Plain, said he swerved to avoid the car but hit Fry who was standing beside his vehicle. Fry remains incapacitated for weeks. about $200 in damage to the car.
