New Castle High School forfeited a 39 0 victory over Connerville after guard Ka Morrow married before the game making him ineligible. The loss shows how roster rules directly affected the outcome of a high school football contest.
A Hardin County grand jury urged the three member board to resign after an investigation found unbusiness like conduct. It cited two steel lots for a bridge project bought at 6 054 and 5 257 after bids, plus road regulation non compliance, improper use of equipment, and poor record keeping. Board members named were Hillis Wilson Ellis Township Martin Ryken Ackley and Frank Bevan Garden City.
Open house programs marked American Education Week at Lincoln and Stewart grads schools. Stewart featured a potluck dinner, dancing, magic acts by Harold Wortman, and fifth graders performing the Virginia Reel. Lincoln hosted teacher meet and greet then a pie social with parents and friends.

Missouri highway patrolman testified that Walter Mayer admitted shooting John Wisdom and asked if Wisdom was dead. Mayer, a Santa Fe rancher, is charged with shooting Wisdom in a dispute over a sheep deal on Wisdom's 900 acre farm near Kirksville last May. Mayer pleaded self defense.

Manila unofficial tally shows Ramon Magsaysay at a 3 to 1 edge over Elpidio Quirino with 1,019,510 to 210,548 votes as counting continues amid fears of violence after nine deaths. Carlos P. Garcia leads Jose Yulo in the vice presidential figures with 551,265 to 266,474.
An Eastern company obtains final patents for a burglar alarm system that uses ultra high sound waves to call guards. The calls are inaudible to human ears.

Verne Rusell Bright 40 former Council Bluffs bank teller and ex mayor received a suspended three year sentence in federal court on embezzling 4000 dollars. Judge Riley also fined bank president Clyde Blanchard 10000 dollars on related charges. Bright confessed he knew he had done wrong and repaid about half of the amount after the shortage was found during his vacation.
The Ministerial association met at Winga's breakfast with Rev. Hugh Vay of Kalona presenting the CROP work. It decided to organize a community clothing drive for Korea on November 27, urging citizens to cooperate.
Iowa's 1953 corn crop is estimated at 589,142,000 bushels, 108,650,000 fewer than 1952. The drought reduced yields to about 53 bushels per acre, 11 below 1952, though above the 10-year average. harvest was near completion by October.

Vice President Richard M Nixon added Okinawa to his Far East itinerary, planning a two hour stop on November 20 en route from Tokyo to Manila. He arranged the visit after consulting with Brig Gen Paul A Caraway who made a one day tour there. Nixon also faced urging from political and military leaders to include Okinawa and prepared an emergency statement in reply to Dulles remarks about recognizing China.
Neenah state Sen William Draheim said he will switch from the Democratic to the Republican Party after two terms. He cited a belief that Jeffersonian principles of individual freedom and responsibility are better represented by Republicans.

Ora E. Parry 76 of Cotter area died at 12 30 a m from a heart attack after months of ill health. Funeral plans handled by Jones. She was born January 4 1877 in Arvonia Kansas, married to John Parry who preceded her in death. Survived by four children Sarah Fowler Clifford Parry Ruth Schroeder Floyd Parry seven grandchildren two great grandchildren and three sisters Will Lowman Burlin Hunt Williams.
