N B Arnold representing the Varnish Manufacturers National Association told a committee that varnish makers nationwide are content with current conditions. He replied to Underwood of Alabama, a Democratic member, during the commission hearing.
The department of agriculture issued a preliminary estimate showing corn, wheat, oats and eight other crops account for about 70 percent of farm value. Production this year is about 3 percent higher than last year and 2.4 percent higher than the five year average.
Carl Kellett transfer agent forced two runaway Pullman cars to sidetrack at Durant as the North Coast Limited approached. Lacking a switch key, the Durant operator could not unlock the switch. Kellett used an ax to break the lock and turn the switch just in time.
New York November 11. Postmaster Edward M. Morgan who was shot by Eric H. B. Mackey then killed himself is reported by physicians to have passed a comfortable night. No serious complications are indicated.
