Fond du Lac Wisconsin November 10 a colored man known as Uncle Billy Jones claims to be 176 years old and recently wed a 50 year old colored woman He says he ran away from slavery before the war and now lives in Wisconsin He is described as uneducated and peculiar with unknown true age. Carrolltan Illinois November 10 Judge Richard Yates and campaign aides planned Greene County delegation to the next state convention at Hotel Pierson with local Republicans.
Frankfort Indiana November 10 the plan to locate a large steel mill here by Chicago capitalists is canceled. Citizens raised a 30000 dollar bonus and five acres of land were pledged for the project but will remain unclaimed due to the deal’s collapse.
A north bound fast Michigan Central passenger train wrecked at LaSalle Michigan, eighteen miles from Toledo, injuring twenty plus people. Six cars baggage mail jumped the track and piled in a ditch. Wrecking crews and physicians rushed to the scene from Toledo Detroit and Monroe. reports vary on fatalities though eighteen were rumored killed.
