Walter D. Kline of the Des Moines OPA announced a 1 cent per quart increase in milk prices in cities with populations under 10 000. The change aligns small communities with larger areas, raising retail milk to 45 cents a gallon and wholesale to 37 cents, with specific increments for other container sizes.
In Oskaloosa at Eve land bridge ten miles southwest, four Riverside neighborhood residents bitten by a dog last Saturday will receive rabies shots after a positive test confirmed the dog was infected. The animal, owned by Frank and Mrs. Perry of Riverside store, attacked Mrs. Perry during leash removal, and also bit George Morris Joe Hyett and Wallace Eveland, 12, son of Dwight Eveland, who chased to help.
Forest City birth records report Franklin Dean and Eleanor Dean born to Mr and Mrs Elias Larson at the Maternity hospital just after midnight. The twins weigh 6 pounds 6 ounces and 6 pounds 4 ounces respectively, part of seven children in eight years with physician Charles H Potter delivering three sets of twins.
Perry voters approve a $50,000 municipal airport bond by 21 536 to 815. In Adel Dallas County, a separate $50,000 bond for the sheriff’s home and jail is approved by a 1 571 to 2 889 margin.
Audubon voters approved building and maintaining a county hospital by a big majority. The project will be financed by county hospital bonds not exceeding $75,000, with about $10,000 bequeathed by the late A. R. Anderson available if the project starts within ten years after his death.
About 400 to 500 people are expected to attend the annual Firemen's Ball sponsored by the Washington Fire Department Friday evening at the Rendezvous. Dancing begins at nine with music by Hal Wiese and his band.

Vernon W. Ward known as Bunk Ward died at 6 30 this morning in Jefferson County Hospital at Fairfield. He lived in Richland for many years and operated a livestock buying business once a major horse buyer in the region. He leaves a wife and several nieces and nephews. body in Gould funeral home at Richland with funeral plans pending.
Charles Denison reports strong advance ticket sales for a Coliseum Davenport dance event. Firemen and several local businesses hold tickets, service men in uniform admitted free, and a $25 war bond prize will be awarded during the evening.
New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey declared Roosevelt reelected to a fourth term and offered congratulations while urging unity. He attributed his defeat to the wartime desire to avoid changing leadership during a global conflict and planned to return to Albany with his wife, taking his sons Thomas Jr. and John Martin with them even if missing school.

Armistice day observance will be held Friday at eleven o'clock in West Chester schools. Norman Schoonover of Washington, a veteran of the current world war, will deliver the address. Public invitation extended to all residents.
Funeral services for Mrs Amanda McNeal will be held Friday morning at 10 30 at the L A Jones funeral home.
The principal speaker is a University of Iowa faculty member who served as an officer in World War I and held a reserve commission afterward. He will discuss chemistry in war, a topic on which he is an expert.

Cattle on the McGinnis farm north of Haskins were injured in a highway collision yesterday when a Gateway City Transfer truck struck them despite a warning. The cattle will have to be butchered.
The Y W C A announces Frank Nelson will again direct the girls gym classes opening Friday November 17 at the Y. Classes run 7 to 9 oclock meeting Tuesday and Friday evenings with exercises tumbling volley and basketball similar to last year. Interested young women may register before November 14 with secretary Mrs M M Hehner.
A Washington county post committee plans an eleven bomb salute in Central Park Armistice Day at 10 55, with taps at 11. Veterans urge everyone to wear the buddy poppy and honor fallen comrades with a solemn ceremony and message of remembrance.
Commander Jay Brewer of Leon Beatty posts call for Legion members to meet at the Legion rooms in the city hall Friday at 10 30 AM Then they will proceed to the high school where Sheriff H M Putnam will deliver an Armistice Day address.
In Crosse Wisconsin George W Loveless of Waterloo drove a vehicle that caused about fifty dollars of damage to a truck.
Stores in Washington will open Friday evening until ten o'clock to accommodate customers before Saturday closure for Armistice Day. Friday night hours will mirror usual Saturday night hours. Post office will be closed Saturday with no mail delivery. stamp window open 8 to 10 am. Other offices and banks will close for the holiday.
