Defense May Try Again Refuse Mistrial Plea for Caril

In Lincoln Nebraska UPI the first degree murder trial of Caril Ann Fugate 15 hangs on a renewed mistrial motion from defense after Starkweather the state's key witness refused questions. Judge Spencer kept door open for a new effort while Starkweather faces death row execution for another murder. Prosecution expected to press Monday on Caril's unsigned statement and role as hostage or accomplice.

Pick Corn for Two Crawfordsville Men

Neighbors help harvest on two local farms in Crawfordsville area. On Thursday nine core pickers worked at J H Jones farm to harvest 45 acres of corn, with Jones recently released from hospital. Friday a second group harvested 20 acres for Russell Monson as he returns from military service to run his mother’s farm. Local Farm Service provided gas and meals for workers and helpers included many named residents and families.

Drunken 16 Year Old Drenches Officer with Garden Hose

A Des Moines officer jailed a drunk 16 year old who drenched Patrolman Thomas McCabe with a garden hose after an attempted fence vault left him with cuts and bruises. The youth, who and a friend had split vodka, recovered from injuries and was released to parents for juvenile authorities.

Two New Families Move Into Washington

The city hostess welcomed two newcomers to Washington. Roscoe Spotts and wife moved from Idaho to 209 South Avenue C. Mrs. Spotts works as a field man for Swift & Company. They attend the Christian church Eastern Star and American Legion. Ernest E. Davis and wife, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico, reside at 715% Lough Iown Ave and join the Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Davis works at Mace Motor Company.

Two Men Honored As 50 Year Masons
