Couple Found Dead in Davenport From Carbon Monoxide
The bodies of a man and a woman, believed to have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, were found in a running car on the outskirts of Davenport's business district. Identified as Willi Bables, 44, Kansas City Kansas, and Juanita Morris, the car had a faulty muffler and a leaky floorboard. Scott County Coroner Reed Phillips ruled the deaths an accident.

Truman Vacationing In Florida Retreat
President Truman flew to his Florida vacation retreat at Key West landing at Boca Chica Naval Station after a three hour and six minute flight from Washington. In four air battles over Korea, Communists sent about 182 jet fighters against 70 UN jets, with one Communist plane shot down and several damaged while Allied forces reported no losses. The clash marked the first anniversary of the jet duel record set a year earlier by Lt. Russell Brown.
