Crowds in Hong Kong celebrate Pekin falling to rebels with loud cheering, gunfire and fireworks as news spreads that the capital has changed hands. Local streets are filled with demonstrators waving flags and expressions of relief.
The Greek steamer Lordos Byron, en route from Theodosia to Antwerp, foundered in the English Channel during a gale. Of 25 crewmen, 22 are missing, three survivors were taken aboard the Dutch steamer Grotius. A wireless from the British steamer Victorian reports the Stephen G Loud crew were aboard.

Three crew members of the Morgan liner Monmus fell from the deck and drowned in view of twenty five passengers during a voyage from New Orleans to an unidentified destination, the ship reaching its harbor later.

The Interstate Commerce Commission reports 10 596 railroad deaths and 150 159 injuries for the year ending June 30. Only 386 of the killed were passengers, with over half the fatalities stemming from trespassing or unauthorised rides.
Henry A Ulrich, charged with assaulting Dr. Booker T. Washington outside 11 ½ West Sixty Third street, is acquitted by the New York Court of Special Sessions. He is later arrested on a fugitive from justice charge from Orange New Jersey for abandonment of his wife. Washington testified detailing the confrontation as Ulrich denied several key points.
The defendant testified that after an intruder punched Dr. Washington and knocked him against a drain pipe he pleaded not to fight. He said he then sought to learn why the man peeped through a keyhole and received another blow. He denied using a cane or receiving help in the assault.
John F. Cox speaker of the Pennsylvania house of representatives died suddenly at his Homestead home in Pittsburg on November 7. The longtime lawmaker and political figure was in his home when the death occurred prompting tributes from colleagues and state officials.
Chicago November 7 Coroner Hoffman orders exhumation of Frank Brinkamp body at Waldheim cemetery amid poison mystery involving Mrs Louise Vermilya who faces murder charges. Father Arthur Bissonette and brother Archie Bissonette report illness after Vermilya meals and drink. Elizabeth Nolan identifies Brinkamp and funds affidavit alleging poison in Vermilya home. Smith exhumation ordered. arraignment scene at Vermilya flat described as dramatic.

Ellis Wainwright the millionaire had an attempted bribery charge dismissed after a nolle prosequi was entered. Prosecution witnesses in ten years abroad in France either left St Louis or died, leading to the closing of the case.
Roy Pett three years old dies in Crawfordsville Indiana after clothing catches fire while playing near a leaves burn. His father A S Pett had left the blaze to burn out and the child was nearby when his clothing ignited.
Armour & Co announces a nationwide pension fund for salaried workers, 3 percent annual contributions by employees and a $1,000,000 pledge by Ogden Armour. The plan includes women employees and allows repayment of contributions if a woman marries, with retirement expected after long service.
United States District Attorney Wilkerson asked Judge Carpenter for a special venire of 150 men to examine jury qualifications in the Armour packers conspiracy case. The panel was to report on November 20, with the trial to follow.
