VPANMUNJOM Korea United Nations officers said the Communists demanded a prompt cease fire line to bar UN advances and delay a formal armistice. Brig Gen William Nuckols stated the UN would not accept a de facto halt without essential conditions including prisoner of war arrangements.

Navy Veteran Miraculously Recovers After 15 Minutes Dead

Melvin Eugene Hewitt a 27 year old Navy veteran from El Monte Calif revived after 15 minutes without a heartbeat. He regained consciousness at Long Beach veterans hospital and showed movement in his legs and ability to count fingers though he recalled nothing of his life before the incident.

Judge levies fines and suspensions in OMVI case

Judge R G Yoder ordered fines totaling 2800 against John W Griffin and Homer B Pfeifer in district court for OMVI. He also recommended suspension of both defendants drivers licenses.

Des Moines Loan Firm Robbed in $1,958.50 Heist

Police report an armed bandit robbed the Aetna Finance Company in Des Moines yesterday. The slender man in a gray hat and brown topcoat escaped with $1,958.50 after forcing R W Hyde to open the cash drawer and deposit box. Manager Louis Fox and others were in the office during the ten minute robbery. a prior 30 month robbery had seen a woman employee shot but no money taken.

Local officials fine and jail terms in blocking driveway case

Robert Wayne Boyd was fined for blocking a driveway and bound over to the grand jury. Elmer Thomas LeVera was bound over on breaking jail. Larry H. Thornton and Walter L. McDonel paid fines for speeding, and Charles Crone received 10 days jail with eight days suspended for intoxication.
