Early returns from most precincts show Brown ahead of Donahey for supervisor by 1019 votes and leading for sheriff against Denison. Brown carries road bond support while other county races tilt toward Brown and Washington county likely winners on the early tallies.
In Palo Alto California Herbert Hoover, amid friends, shyly accepts victory as Alfred E. Smith concedes. Hoover, seated in his living room, silences a rush for a speech, then cheers erupt as Stamford University students in San Juan head to Hoover’s home with John Philip Sousa’s band in a celebratory show of support.
Pierre South ernets reports Hoover ahead with 1 899 precincts counted. Massachusetts has Hoover closing gap on Smith as 2 a m tallies shift. New Mexico favors Cutting and Marrow per precinct returns. Missouri shows Hoover with strong lead. Rhode Island and Providence early results place Smith ahead in state totals.
Early mid edition papers across New York and other states concede Herbert Hoover's election with varying totals. Mississippi shows Smith leading Amann, while Indiana apportionment supports Hoover Coolidge. Michigan and Nebraska indicate Republican gains, with California and Maryland tilting toward Hoover as results trickle in from numerous precincts.

Nov 6 reports show Hoover with a large lead over Smith potentially reaching 400 electoral votes. Crowds gathered at the Times Building while electric banners traced the election results. Fire crews battled fires sparked by crowd celebrations and a Greenwich Street blaze drew quick police and firefighter response.
Des Moines reports Hoover leading in Iowa with 419 799 votes to 162 549 for Governor Johnston and others, based on 1 006 precincts. The Republican ticket remains safely elected with Arch Mevarland at lieutenant governor and Hammill, Housel, and Finch also leading in their contests.
Des Moines reports early returns show Proposal 10, a $100 million road bond plan, prevailing in scattered precincts. With 746 precincts reporting, 94,202 votes for and 43,105 against favored speeding up primary road construction. In Washington County, results showed 15,086 to 2,297 in another tally.
New York reports Herbert Hoover has won the presidency with a growing electoral lead surpassing 386 votes, signaling a broad national win. Governor Alfred E. Smith concedes, while states like Virginia and possibly Texas and Florida lean Hoover, and several border and southern states shift away from Smith.
New York November 7 Republicans gain chance to sweep Congress as early returns show GOP 225 seats to 166 Democrats in the House with 43 districts still in doubt. Senate gains may reach four or more, with candidates leading in Arizona Washington and New Jersey. Hoover landslide sentiment appears to secure a strong House and a safe Senate next year. Roosevelt leads Ottinger for New York governor in early returns.
