President Vasey urged merging city and county school superintendents into one office. The Iowa State Teachers Association delegates, expected 9,000 registrants, heard talks by Dr D F H Todd and Chancellor E H Lindley. A large Iowa high school symphony performed, and officers were to be elected at the fitness meeting. Vasey proposed redistricting to twelve large meetings and biennial central meetings. He noted salaries: clerks about 1,200, teachers 1,275, state average 2,010, asserting underpayment.

Survived by children Will Chicago Frank Davenport Alice Davenport George Washington Ben Des Moines Mrs Dennis Clancy Washington and Mrs Mattie Butler La Crosse Wis. She had three brothers B F Custer Fremont Neb Will Custer Washington Isaac Custer Menlo Kan. A United Presbyterian Church member she lived a patient unselfish life devoted to her children and home.
