Troop Activation for Iowa National Guard Delayed to Wednesday

Four Nazis Sentenced to Death by American War Crimes Tribunal

Sheriff H M Putnam Involved In Car Collision On North Iowa
Sheriff H M Putnam and Glenn Conard were in a Sunday collision on North Iowa avenue. Conard’s parked car pulled away and hooked Putnam’s fender, tearing off the fender and rim. Putnam estimated damage at about $50. Conard car suffered no damage.

Harriett Emily Clark 83 of 508 North Iowa avenue died at Washington County Hospital after years of illness. Funeral services set for Wednesday at Sherman's funeral home with burial in Indian Creek cemetery. She was a Pleasant Grove Bethel Church of God member and Three-Quarter Century club. Born July 29, 1864 in Louisa county, she married Edwin R. Murdock in 1880 and Homer Clark in 1921. both husbands preceded her. Mrs Blanche Abbey Hinkle returned to her birthplace north of Richmond on her sixtieth birthday October 11. She traveled from San Francisco after a community visit and called on Dr B E Allen of Iowa City who attended her mother at the time of her birth. Riverside pair fined for assault on mayor after Halloween clash

Soviet Union proposes UN rule after British exit on Palestine plan
Soviet delegate Semyon Tsarapkin presented a plan at the UN in New York calling for British withdrawal by January 1 1948 and a year of UN Security Council rule over Palestine.
