Annual Red Cross Dinner Plans Set for Friday

The county Red Cross will host its annual dinner Friday at 6 20 PM in the YMC A. Plans for the roll call and Red Cross activities will be reviewed. City chairmen from Riverside Brighton Edwfordsville West Chester Wellman Kalona and Ainsworth plan to attend along with Ward workers from Washington. Tickets cost 40 cents and are sold at Nicolas Harmon's.

Revival Services at West Chester November 9

Union revival meetings begin in West Chester on Sunday November 9 with first week at the Methodist church and second week at the United Presbyterian church. Churches cooperate under the banner West Chester for Christ with West Chester ministers preaching and a university choir providing music. Special musical numbers planned nightly. James Davidson of Iowa Wesleyan College visited Mount Pleasant for the weekend.

Bank Bandit Killed After Robbery in Los Angeles

In Los Angeles a bank robber died from six bullet wounds after taking 1025 dollars from a Triay branch. Detectives Mali na and Woolman arrived near the bank as the bandit loitered outside and forced a customer and staff to line up. He fired on officers. they returned fire and the suspect died hours later.

Fires Ravage Oklahoma Oil Field Near McCloud and Harrah

Two fires broke out in the Oklahoma City area along the North Canadian River after noon. Flames destroyed the waste pit near the Morgan gusher and spread to the Warner bridge and two mills west of McCloud, threatening areas along the riverfront.

Hold Mission Festival at St Pauls Church

A mission festival at St Paul's Evangelical church in Washington featured Rev Carl W Klein in the morning and Rev H A Crusius of Moline in the afternoon. About 78 dollars remained to reach the church mission budget as 125 attendees enjoyed music by the junior choir. A waffle dinner followed.

YMCA Drive Opens Tuesday With One Day Campaign

Tomorrow marks the annual YMCA financial campaign on Washington. A large corps of men aims to raise funds to decorate the building interior and cover yearly expenses. About a hundred men will gather at 6 15 for dinner in the community room before a campaign conference and distribution of campaign cards for Tuesday.

Officials expect a large turnout in an off year, though not matching two years ago’s national issue driven turnout. Mrs Anna Jonne Boone Dies in Georgia at 67

Word reached here of the death of Mrs Anna Jonne Boone in Valdosta Georgia. She was 67 and a sister of Tom Schulty and Mrs Charles Howworth of Washington. Funeral plans are undecided and the body will be brought to Washington for burial in Pilotsburg cemetery. She had lived in Missouri and Tacoma Washington before moving to Florida then Georgia. She leaves a brother H F Favinger of Minden Nebraska and sisters Will Easterwood Warrensburg Missouri and another sister. James Chirk recovered from a heart attack yesterday and Mrs Harold Montgomery and Mrs George Clapper visited Des Moines last week.

Wally of Washington is at the county hospital with a serious arm injury after a shotgun discharged Sunday evening while being removed from a car. The gun, in a canvas case, discharged likely when the trigger snagged. Shot lodged in arm muscle. doctors hope to save the limb and prevent infection.
