Ruth Thompson 28 of Keota was jailed 30 days after being arraigned on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Police said she entertained high school girls in her Davenport apartment at a smoking party where two high school boys were found smoking and playing cards.
The legislative interim committee with state conservation officials will survey the Muscatine Louisa County drainage district next week as the first step in determining if the area should be acquired by the state and converted into a wildlife refuge.
Ottumwa Mayor David A Nevin told the city council a thorough inquiry will study charges against police officers and begin hearings soon The city solicitor will interview five men who have filed or will file reports of mistreatment and obtain affidavits from them for the investigation.
Police hunted a three man team after two robbers entered the Anshutz jewelry store Tuesday evening. The Iowa State College housing committee applied for 158 house trailer units to ease the housing shortage for married veterans and their families.
