A tornado struck Webb City Missouri shortly before midnight leaving one woman dead and destroying about thirty houses. The storm damaged the south business center and northwest residential area, leaving hundreds homeless as a cloudburst later washed through the city hindering search efforts.
The Arctic Ocean is getting warmer and seals are leaving the region. A report to the commerce department from Commissioner Iffit of Bergen Norway notes climate shifts with ice masses replaced by earth and rock and glaciers disappearing. Fewer seals and no white faces are observed in the Arctic waters.
Rev. Padarask, who confesses to killing his wife and mother in law Mrs. Mamie Lou Dixon, rests before the Georgia Supreme Court jury after a two day trial that ended with him delivering a sermon claiming he shot his wife for biblical reasons, Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Former Iowa governor G. W. Clarke declares he will not support Brookhart despite long acquaintance. The AP notes Clarke is the sixth former governor to bolt from Brookhart’s candidacy, as a letter becomes public in Des Moines.
Chicago November 1. Herbert H. Smith assistant manager Presbyterian publicity declares church advertising is too competitive and urges co operative paid display space. He cites 206 church pages showing over 90 percent name the church first in ads and argues adverts should reach all readers with inviting phrases rather than denomination naming.
In New Brunswick on November 1, Mrs. Jane Gibson added to her eyewitness account of the Hall Mills murder, recalling a woman under the crab apple tree saying then explain those letters before the fatal shots. Authorities guard three persons, including Mrs. Gibson, as notes between Rev Hall and Mrs Mills surface and witnesses corroborate parts of the tale. Detective J I Macon commented on the evolving investigation.

A Minneapolis mother who stole to feed her four children remains at liberty as police pursue the thief. A twelve year old son confessed to stealing from a neighbor’s clothesline and to reporting the crime for a five dollar reward, with most garments recovered and no arrest yet made.
Washington November 1 Mrs. Harding recuperating from illness sat up briefly at the White House today. Her condition prompted Brigadier General Sawyer to keep her in bed for rest and cautious recovery following a cold.
Abilene Kans Nov 1 Farmers face limited purchasing power hitting profits of agricultural implement dealers. Dealers plan to aid farmers via repair weeks and standardization with farm bureaus to boost sales as the American Royal Livestock Show opens November 18 with about 2000 head exhibited and a new half million dollar exposition hall.
More than thirty thousand acres of coal land with about 180 million tons of bituminous coal are reportedly in prospect negotiations between Henry Ford and the Wayne Coal Co. of Pittsburgh. No closing date was given.

One man, engineer W. J. Crawford, died and another, H. Overall, was seriously injured when a locomotive on a Bragos Valley railway freight train exploded at Wilmot station thirty eight miles north of Houston. The incident occurred about eight o'clock this morning. Roth lived at Teagus.
