Decoration Day Observance Honors Fallen Soldiers
Washington and community honor the men who gave their lives in service during past wars. Veterans from Spanish American War and World War I take part in a solemn Decoration Day parade from the square to Elm Grove and Woodlawn cemeteries. Death Claims Two Washington Women Sunday
Two longtime Washington residents died on Sunday. Mrs. Mary H. Lovelett 1027 East Second street died at seven in the morning with funeral at Pleasant Hill church led by Rev. E. P. Telford of Fort Madison. Mrs. Mary A. Miller 720 North Fourth Avenue died at 8 30 p m after a brief illness. Funeral Tuesday at Woodford chapel with Dr. W. W. Bowers officiating. Grant Darbyshire died last week at Lethbridge Canada funeral tomorrow at Woodford Chapel at 4 30 a m. Surviving brothers Will M. Darbyshire and Dr. Charles Darbyshire and sister Mrs. Bert Babcock. His parents and mother have deceased.

In Dallas on May 31 the Texas Democratic State convention named committees on platform and platform issues and chose sixteen delegates at large including four women. Judge A B Watkins chaired briefly and praised Wilson, urged woman suffrage and prohibition, and ratification of the peace treaty with the league covenant. The party lines show 1,223 of 1,409 convention votes backing the national administration, with 42 for anti Wilson forces. Thomas B Love of Dallas was re elected national Democratic committeeman. Masonic membership in the United States numbered 2,086,808.
