The US Navy seaplane NC 4, attempting the Lisbon to Plymouth crossing, landed in the Mondego River after motor trouble. Commander Read seeks repairs with Tarbell and George Washington relaying updates as destroyers stay on station.
The NC-4 reported passing stations A and B at 9:15 and 9:20 am, flying about 2000 feet in clear weather. A later wireless from Read said “Landed Mondego river” but gave no reason. The seaplane was undamaged and Plymouth excitement rose as the flight resumed toward Plymouth with Rochester due.
General Villa declares that if Carranza troops are allowed to pass through the United States to Juarez he and others cannot aid their men. He cites responsibility for American lives and property in Chihuahua if such a permit is granted by Washington. The warning follows a report of Mexican government requests.
Canadian militia officers reported to head quarters were instructed to be in readiness at any time for emergency service. They were not detained at headquarters.
