Delinquent Tax Sale Attracts Small Interest
The delinquent tax sale held today drew little interest with about 23 bids totaling roughly 450 dollars. Only one farm land parcel received a bid, by its mortgage holder, while the rest were town properties. The sale, postponed eight weeks from April 2, had few bidders and about a dozen attendees. The event was continued on July 23.
Burlington Police Captain Killed in Weekend of Violence
Six people died in a wave of gunfire and crashes over the weekend. Burlington police captain F W Sauer was shot during a store robbery escape, while Oran Statts died on a fishing trip.
